Vacancies

We are seeking to recruit qualified and highly competent persons to fill the following positions:

PROGRAMME OFFICER
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Executive Director and will be based in Nairobi.

Specific Areas of responsibility:

  • Develop concept papers and proposals for fundraising purposes;
  • Develop a yearly and quarterly roll out plan and budget for WiLDAF – Kenya programme activities
  • Ensure preparation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all programme activities;
  • Identify and contract consultants for implementation of programme work;
  • Prepare activity reports, quarterly and yearly reports and/or other reports as may be required;
  • Conduct thematic research on emerging issues of policy and programme implementation to render guidance to WiLDAF – Kenya’s programme activities;
  • Monitor and respond to women’s and children’s rights concerns as exposed in print, audio and visual media;
  • Represent WiLDAF – Kenya in meetings as assigned;
  • Provide primary administrative support to the Executive Director
  • Guide and supervise the programme assistants;
  • Undertake any other duties as the organisation may reasonably require; and,
  • Be responsible for the timely production of information and articles for newsletters, monthly email bulletins and web site updates.

The ideal candidate should have a recognized University Degree in Social Sciences preferably in Law, Sociology, Social Work or any other related qualification with a minimum of two years hands-on experience in policy and advocacy programmes. Other necessary skills include, report writing and documentation. Proven skills in training, facilitation, monitoring and evaluation. Not more than 35 years of age. Open to both males and females.

PROGRAMME ASSISTANT
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Program Officer and will be based in Nairobi.

Specific Areas of responsibility

  • Participate in the preparation and submission of project proposals, monthly/quarterly/annual donor reports and technical briefs.
  • Provide logistical support for stakeholders and participants, such as travel planning, visa invitation letters, conference requirements, travel documentation, and reimbursement.
  • Interact with external collaborators as needed for purposes of project coordination and communication.
  • Coordinate conferences, teleconferences, workshops, meetings, and other events as requested, including logistics for press conferences and other similar events.
  • Provide administrative support as requested, including telephone support, transmit and receive faxes and other correspondence.
  • Maintain efficient paper and electronic filing systems so that important project files are retrieved in a timely fashion.
  • Conduct data search on legislations (new and old), policies and other relevant issues as requested by program staff including simple analysis of project surveys, monitoring and evaluation reports.
  • Perform background research as requested, such as press coverage, or materials needed for work planning.
  • Coordinate training and technical support schedule with guidance from the Program Officer.

In addition the ideal candidate must have strong communication (verbal/written) skills, wide knowledge of computer applications and report writing skills. Not more than 35 years of age. PROGRAM INTERN
An internship is intended to provide students or recently graduated persons with the opportunity to apply what they learned to real world situations. It offers the intern the chance to work within one of WiLDAF Kenya programs. The intern will work under the supervision of WiLDAF Kenya Program Officer and Executive Director, who will also train them and evaluate their work. WiLDAF Kenya is committed to making the internship a quality experience that involves the performance of meaningful and skill-enhancing activities. WiLDAF Kenya will not place the intern in positions that exceed his/her capacity or involve responsibilities that s/he is not capable of assuming. This is a paid internship that runs for a period of three months.

Qualifications: The internship is open to 3rd and 4th year students of Social Sciences, preferably Law and recently graduated persons in the same field. There will be no special preference for either category of applicants. The candidate will also be required to have and demonstrate a deep interest in women’s rights, development and empowerment and should either be completing his/her undergraduate degree programme or has recently graduated within the last one year. Open to both males and females.
